Labor Day Extravaganza Hike/Boat/Swim/Camp/Bonfire + Kosher Food at Fahnestock State Park!! Sunday — Tuesday August 31 to Sept 1, 2025 In Carmel, NY RSVP Form and Pricing at the Bottom - FAQ + Directions EARLY BIRD DEADLINE MIDNIGHT SUNDAY, AUGUST 24 STANDARD EVENT RSVP MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27 FINAL EVENT RSVP MIDNIGHT SATURDAY, AUGUST 30 Spend just the day or camp out for a night at Fahnestock State Park, with hiking, boating, relaxing and dinner! Hikes: Sunday Longer for adults - 2 to 3 hrs, 4 + miles - if offered Shorter for everyone - 1+ hr , 1.5 to 2 miles — this can be combined with the boating See below for additional hikes on Monday. Boating: Kayaking & Rowboats - double kayaks ( can be used by one or two people), on a picturesque 100 acre lake - this can be combined with the short hike . For rowboats & kayaking there must be an adult 18 or older on each boat and passengers can be of any age. People who want this option can rent boats on their own - Boating costs for kayaks and row boats are the same - $10 per hour, $25 deposit. Each person/group will rent this directly from the park. Swim and Relax: Swim and relax at a lovely beach or under the shade on our portable air couch or on your beach blankets... Swimming is allowed at Canopus Lake AT YOUR OWN RISK - THEY DO NOT HAVE A LIFE GUARD - the park allows swimming in Canopus Lake in one roped off area by the beach. Please keep that in mind when you decide to swim. Dinner + Bonfire Sunday Nightfor people coming for the day, we will end the with a kosher Chinese buffet dinner with a variety of choices for meat eaters and vegetarians, from Tokyo Hibatchi, under the Vaad Harabonim of MetroWest, located in Springfield NJ. We will have a bonfire for all after dinner on Sunday night. Camping Details - We will be camping in the group camping area within Fahnestock State Park. There are port=a-potty type toilets on the site and running water nearby where people park, in the main Parking area. There are no cars on the campsite, you need to walk up a slight hill from the main parking area a few hundred feet away and carry/use a cart to bring your items from there to the camping area…..We are in a secluded part of the part off the main road 301 that runs through the park - for those who need a shower, there are showers available for use, but they are a 5 minute drive away in the main camping for individuals - NO SHOWERS IN THE GROUP CAMPING AREA. You can also rent a space in a tent, one tent for men and one for women @ $15 per person for 1 or 2 nights Food for those Camping - bring your lunch and drinks for Sunday, we will supply snacks and water till dinner and then food and drinks from Sunday dinner through Monday breakfast/ make your own lunch. If there are not enough people for a full camping trip we will reduce the camping fee to the rental price for the site and ask people to bring their own food for breakfast and lunch... Offsite Activities - for those who want to do things in the area vs things within Fahnestock, here is a list of local options Boscobel - historic mansion on the Hudson with beautiful gardens and tours of the main House available on Sunday and Monday—10 minute drive away Cold Spring — pretty town along the Hudson which has some nice shops, general store, antiquing and artist shops on the main street and kayaking in Constitution Marsh, along the Hudson—10 minute drive. There is also a nice 1.8 mile walk along the Hudson where you can visit the the ruins of the Cornish estate and the adjacent West Point Foundry, one of America’s most important industrial open air sites Magazzino Italian Art - a museum for postwar and contemporary Italian art with permanent and continuing exhibitions - 7 minute drive away Manitoga — Manitoga is the estate and modernist home of industrial designer Russel Wright (1904–1976) and his wife Mary Small Einstein Wright. It has tours of the house, his studios and design galleries and a woodland garden, along the Hudson. Less than 20 minute drive Glynwood Farm Store - Organic and Regenerative Farm nearby which sells their own produce, open on Sunday and you can walk around the farm a bit when they are open, 10-2pm—5 minute drive Tentative Schedule* Sunday 10:00 Arrival/Sign in at Canopus Beach ( $10 per car parking fee) 10:30 Longer Hike 10:30—4:30 Swimming & Relaxing 10:30—4:30 Boating 12:30 Shorter Hike 5:00 Dinner @ Campsite—8 minute drive away 6:00 Mincha 6:30 - Bonfire with smores @ Campsite Monday 8:00 - 10:30 Davening + Breakfast and relaxing + make your own lunch 11:00 - 4:30 Onsite and Offsite Activities - various options including kayaking and swimming at Canopus Beach within the park, a 4+ mile hike within Fahnestock, a short hike option, Boscobel + Cold Spring and other offsite activities– see above section *Subject to change For more details, directions and FAQs, visit our Details and FAQ Page PRICING The balance of any monies you might owe is due at the event. When you arrive you will need to go through registration in order to complete any payments for the event. Additional $10 fee per car to park at Canopus Lake. Time of registration – calculated from when we receive your reservation on the RSVP Form. ADVANCE PAYMENT REQUIREMENT TO RSVP: In order to complete your reservation, you must pay for the event in advance either via zelle or via paypal by the deadline at the top of this page. Failure to pay may result in your being unable to attend the event. PAYMENT METHODS - CHECK OR PAYPAL You may pay in one of two ways, via check or via paypal. Via Zelle: There will instructions on the form below, once selected. Via Paypal When you complete the RSVP form below by selecting your activities, you will be directed to a paypal page and will be asked to log in and pay at PayPal’s site. Once you complete the RSVP form and pay via paypal, you will be considered fully registered. COSTS We require payment in advance, either via Zelle or via paypal Time of registration – calculated from when we receive your reservation on the RSVP Form. You may cancel until SUNDAY, AUGUST 24.
