These falls are one of the nicest waterfalls in New England. According to one website, ‘ if you can’t get to Niagara Falls...this might just be as close as you can get in New England’. It gas a 50 ft height and you can visit both the lower and upper portions of the falls. Its also a great destination to drive to, for families and kids. Its only 3 miles from Isabella Freedman, for a pleasant 6 mile roundtrip bike or drive. Bike rentals for this trip are $15 per person, and it takes about 1 hr from start to finish. Here are turn by turn directions for this ride.

From Isabella Freedman to Falls Village Waterfall

(Approx 3 miles, 8 minutes driving, 30 minutes biking)

1)          Turn left (west) onto Johnson Rd

2)          Almost immediately, bear right onto Beebe Hill Road

3)          Take Beebe Hill Rd for 1 mile and make the first right onto Route 7 heading north (Lime Rock Road)

4)          Go ¼ mile and turn left onto Main Street (Rte 126 north).

5)          Continue ½ miles to Falls Village center. At the center turn right and proceed down the hill.

6)          At the traffic island turn left and go under the railroad bridge. Continue past the power generation station and over the Housatonic River.

7)          After crossing the river, take a right to Falls Mountain Road.

8)         Continue, and then take a right onto Housatonic River Road. You will soon come to a bridge (2013 Update – the bridge is closed for cars, but you can bike or walk over the bridge).

9)          Walk over the bridge and make a right to go up a hill, then you will come to at "Scenic Overlook". Total distance of just under ½ mile from the bridge over the Housatonic. (2013 update – from the other side of the bridge you can also walk along the path that starts to the right, right after the bridge, going into the woods – in 5 to 10 minutes you will reach the falls)

10)        You can see the top of the falls from where you park, but there are extensive systems of falls lower down  - follow the path near the water at the end of the parking lot near where you entered, for 3 to 5 minutes and you will come to some excellent views of the levels and lower falls and basin area. Enjoy!

When done with your bike, please place neatly, with helmets, under the porch where you took it from.

Rentals are $15 per bike for up to 1.5 hours
